Alligator Creek bridge – a most remarkable structure
Alligator Creek is located 30 kilometres north of Rockhampton. An innovative timber and metal bridge was built across the creek in 1877. Designed by Alexander Jardine, it was a Fink truss design and was the first long span bridge in Australia with a 40 m span. The bridge was demolished in 1960.
